Lutein Antioxidant Supplementation Trial
Lutein is one of a group of carotenoids known as the macular pigments. This is because they are found in greatest concentration at the back of the eye, specifically the macula.
This trial found that supplementation with lutein combined with other antioxidants had the greatest effect and showed a statistically significant improvement in visual function, glare recovery, and contrast sensitivity. All key measures of visual performance.
